It can help lower high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. Regular cardio can also help you sleep better, improve mental health, boost your confidence and strengthen your bones, joints and muscles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs cardio makes your heart and lungs work harder, it helps to strengthen them \u2013 and it\u2019s great at improving overall fitness levels,\u201d says Dr Jacquie Lavin, Slimming World\u2019s Head of Research and Scientific Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/category\/move\/\"><strong>MORE ON THE BLOG: If you\u2019re looking for your perfect fitness fit, you can check out lots of inspiring ideas in the MOVE section of the blog.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"getting-started\"><strong>Getting started<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to start at the right level for you,\u201d says Jacquie. \u201cAs long as your heart rate is increased and your breathing is heavier, you\u2019ll reap the rewards.\u201d How this looks for each of us will depend on how fit we are.
