And if you\u2019re anything like me, finding exciting ways to make the most of veg is definitely a challenge! So this feels like the ideal time to introduce our fantastically filling bubble and squeak recipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all, these crunchy little cakes were (literally!) invented for using up the veg left over from our Sunday dinners \u2013 and they\u2019re a tasty way to finish off any cabbage, Brussels sprouts or spring onions you\u2019ve got in your vegetable drawer. This bubble and squeak recipe is really easy to follow and super flexible, too. So if you\u2019ve got some carrots, peas or broccoli to use, feel free to throw those into the mix as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve served our brilliant bubble and squeak cakes with tomatoes, fried eggs and baked beans \u2013 but the great thing about this Slimming World recipe is that the possibilities are endless! They\u2019re delicious as a snack on their own, or you could try topping with Syn Free sausages and lean back bacon \u2013 or a poached egg as a tasty vegetarian option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out our bubble and squeak recipe and get set for an easy, healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner that\u2019s full of fabulous flavours and totally Free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Slimming World bubble and squeak recipe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Serves 4<br>Ready in 55 minutes<br>Free<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you need:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>900g floury potatoes, such as Maris Piper or King Edward, peeled and chopped<br>200g cabbage, shredded<br>6 spring onions, finely sliced<br>4 eggs and 1 egg yolk*<br>low-calorie cooking spray<br>4 tomatoes, halved<br>2 x 400g cans baked beans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you do: <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Boil the potatoes and the cabbage until tender, then drain. Mash the potatoes, then mix in the cabbage. Allow to cool before adding the spring onions and egg yolk. Stir to mix, season lightly and chill until needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 220\u00b0C\/fan 200\u00b0C\/gas 7. Divide the potato mixture into 8 portions and shape each one into a patty. Place on a non-stick baking tray, spray with low-calorie cooking spray and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until slightly browned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Meanwhile, spray a non-stick frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and place over a medium heat. Fry the tomatoes and the eggs to your liking. Heat the baked beans in a saucepan.
