know your BMI
Knowing your Body Mass Index (BMI) is a useful guide to the healthy weight range for your height. The government and medical profession use BMI to assess weight in relation to height for both men and women.
At Slimming World we’ll never tell you what you should weigh or what your target should be to. We know how much more committed we are to achieving something we want to achieve rather than something we're told we should do – and that’s why you decide where you want to get to – and we’ll help you every step of the way! If you need a touch of help the BMI calculator serves as a guide for most of us. You can also use our own Weight Range Chart for another way to view your weight to height ratio and to help you set your weight loss goals and track your progress.
To calculate Body Mass Index you need to know your height in metres and your weight in kilograms, then divide weight by height squared. Or, you can just enter height and weight (in either metric or imperial measurements) into our handy calculator.
Please note: A BMI guide may not be accurate for people with a high muscle mass. If you are under 16 years old, or if you are a mum-to-be, the BMI calculator and chart are not suitable to assess your weight range. If you’re aged 11-15, ask in group for Free2Go – a guide for you and your doctor, which features BMI charts suitable for your age range that can be used, with your doctor’s support, to assess your current weight.
